Happy Easter to my fellow Christians, Happy Spring to everyone else

April 20th, 2014 at 04:45 am

I know that we are a diverse bunch here at SA, but we respect those differences. So for my fellow Christian Peeps, I wish you a Joyous Easter celebrating the Resurrection. For everyone else, I wish you peace.

After Mass I am hosting brunch with the parents, parents-in-law, and my brother. We will be watching "Easter Parade" - our perennial favorite - and we've added "Harvey" with Jimmy Stewart to our movie line-up. Hope everyone has a wonderful time with family and friends.

Sweet! We're alone today, my husband and I. I had felt a little relieved not to be hosting anyone or going anywhere, but on mention of your family, I realized I miss mine. I'll go work in the garden and see the purple of those Peeps in the violets, the yellow in the dandelions, the green in new leaves, and the pink in the peach blossoms. I hope to see many honeybees as well, buzzing, climbing the flowers, doing what bees do without wistful thoughts of who is not there.

Spring started a month ago. The correct salutation would have been Happy Easter to those who celebrate it. Happy Passover to those who celebrate it. And good luck to the rest. ;-)

@ ILUVATRAINWRECK, In all of my life I've never been considered a Grammarian.

When you write your blog, you can title your posts whatever you like. Big Grin

Here in MN, it feels like spring only just started this past weekend! We've had snow and below-freezing temps for the past few weeks and then Sunday the weather FINALLY broke. So maybe not spring in the strictest calendar sense of the word, but I certainly appreciated the sentiment. Wink

ILUVATRAINWRECK: "the correct salutation"?? Including "good luck"? Why "good luck" in particular? There are numerous things we could wish for each other. Nourishing food, serenity in the face of troubles, happy family life, clear thinking, the ability to recall sweet memories, a bargain at the dollar store, finishing the NYT crossword puzzle without use of an eraser, that our legally required work-break occur on time, scarless healing of that scratch from a cat, a content Jumaada al-thaany, on and on. Personally, I like having been wished peace and a happy spring better than having been wished good luck.

I believe it is still Spring, though not the first day of Spring.

Thank you for your sentiments, Laura!

@ Joan.of.the.Arch - I love your response to ILUVATRAINWRECK. You're much more clever than I. Or me? Smile
